Miranda Kang is an actress, writer, director, and comedian based in New York and Los Angeles. She studied Theatre at NYU Tisch and received a minor in Child and Adolescent Psychopathology. At NYU, she performed on the improv team, Pasadena Golf Club, and went on to win Nationals at the College Improv Tournament. Additionally, she performed on the sketch team, Friends with Dads. She regularly performs at various NYC comedy venues with her improvisational comedy team, Hip Shot, which specializes in long-form narrative sets.
As an artist, she is drawn to stories that tackle generational trauma in Asian families while incorporating humor. She is a strong believer in the potency of comedy and recognizes how it can bridge a gap between people—but also alienate and perpetuate harmful stereotypes against marginalized people. She is interested in exploring the fine line between laughing and crying; she’s found that the works of art that have made her laugh the most have also been the ones that have made her cry the hardest.
